APPLES 3 WAYS
a preserving workshop
Piedmont Picnic Project at Raleigh City Farm

It’s apple season! Interested in learning to preserve the fall bounty of apples all year long? We’ll show you three delicious ways and teach you the history behind these methods and some of your favorite apple varieties!

Information will cover how to preserve apples three different ways — including “snitzing”! Techniques generalize easily to other fruits! You will leave with a solid overview of how to use the water-bath canning method. We’ll send you home with a jar of apple preserves that you help make!

Reserve your spot here.

SATURDAY FARM STAND
a produce stand
Raleigh City Farm
800 N Blount St
9:00am - 12:00pm

Come by the Farm every Saturday to get just-picked produce grown by RCF's Principal Farmer, James Edwards. Stop by, see what's growing and eat local.
Proceeds directly support Raleigh City Farm's mission of growing new urban farms and farm entrepreneurs to strengthen sustainable, healthy food systems.

SUN SPROUTS KID'S GARDEN PLAY
pen play and learn time in the garden
Marbles Kids Museum
201 E. Hargett St
9:00am - 5:00pm

Join us in the Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden to explore the plants and wildlife who call the Garden their home, buzz along the Pollinator Promenade, and daydream in the Fairy Fort. Help our gardener tend the many vegetables, fruits and flowers that grow here—and taste them too. The Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden is open for play every day.

The Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden encourages kids to live healthy and active lives through exploratory outdoor play, and experiencing fresh and local fruits and vegetables through all their senses. Joining the gardener in tending the space, kids learn through hands-on participation in a community setting. Sun Sprouts is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, and neighbored by a new Pollinator Garden sponsored by Burt’s Bees in the Marbles courtyard, where children can witness the power of pollinators and learn how to support them.

COMMUNITY HARVEST LUNCH

SECRET BEE GARDEN PARTY + FUNDRAISER
a beer and bee party
Apiopolis at Big Boss Brewing Company
1249 Wicker Dr
2:00pm - 4:00pm(ish)

Big Boss Brewing Company will be hosting their monthly brewery tour and we’ll be clinking beer glasses in the secret bee garden!

Big Boss is not only one of the awesome inaugural host sites for Apiopolis hives, it’s also our first pollinator garden and bee lover’s gathering ground! And we’ll be trialling four bee-approved pollinator prairie planting techniques on site! We’ll have amazing music, a beautiful bee mural in progress, bee-related art for sale, food truck, honey, bee seed bombs, t-shirts, bee tattoos and more! Come celebrate with us!

Healthy bees equal a healthy urban environment. While we’re pretty confident our amazing local chefs and could do their impressive best with the foods bees don’t pollinate, we’re happy our pollinators help support our vibrant local food system by enabling us to enjoy the over 200 food crops they do! Apiopolis believes that by following the example set by the bees working together for the greater good of the hive, we are creating a stronger, healthier, more sustainable community and city.
