Celebrate summer at this month's Second Saturday events! Come out for food, gardening and fun events all celebrating local food and community around the Raleigh Food Corridor and Downtown Raleigh throughout the day of Second Saturday!

Second Saturday is a once-a-month celebration of local food and community. We'll be hosting showcases, community events, cooking and gardening workshops, mornings of volunteering, idea generating sessions, local food specials, and much more. 
Giving you - the Raleigh community - plenty of opportunities to engage and support your local food system.

Transfer Company Food Hall + Friends Present THIS IS AMERICA: A Hurricane Florence Relief Benefit + Party. Benefiting the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC and the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center, organizations working directly with communities devastated by Hurricane Florence, Transfer Company is offering a sneak preview of its continuing build-out and what’s to come in early 2019 as it opens the Food Hall with its own food purveyors and line-up of incredibly talented and generous friends. For $35, please join us next Friday, October 12th, 2018, at 7 PM as we eat, drink, and dance to raise money to support our neighbors in central and eastern NC.

We'll use fresh farm veggies to make salty, sour, pro-biotic-rich fermented vegetables - including sauerkraut, kimchi, and root veggies!

Try samples in class and make and take a jar of your own to let ferment at home! We'll give you all the information you need to know and handouts to take with you.

Our Compost Kitchen, a collaborative composting system with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, is cooking!

Join us every second Saturday of the month for our Compost Kitchen workdays! We'll be offering a hands-on composting experience at the Compost Kitchen located at the Camden St. Learning Garden. Join us in building a compost pile from scratch, and learn about the beauty of composting in the process!

Everyone is welcome! Remember to wear closed-toed shoes, and bring your reusable water bottle, if possible.

Learn how to start your own microgreens at home!

Microgreens are easy to grow, tasty on salads and soups, and packed full of antioxidants and other nutrients!

Join us and Tami Purdue of Sweet Peas Urban Gardens for a hands on workshop all about microgreens. You will leave with lots of knowledge and your very own tray of microgreens.

Tami Purdue started Sweet Peas Urban Gardens in 2014 in her own backyard. Tami and her team use a retrofitted shipping container for a hydroponic growing system where they grow over fifty-five varieties of microgreens and vegetable shoots.

Suggested $5 cash donation for the cost of materials.

Dairy-licious: Dairy Fermentation

Dairy and World War I go together like . . . cows and butter? Learn about the history of dairying in Raleigh and how it relates to the First World War, then work through simple techniques for three fermented dairy products you can make at home: kefir, crème fraîche, and buttermilk. You’ll go home with handouts and your own kefir grains!

$15 per participant; $10 for MOHA/museum members. Register in advance; any remaining tickets will be available at the door for $20.

Come dig in our garden! With nine rows and 20 boxes, there is always work to be done -- planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting! Our Community Garden presents the perfect opportunity for churches, companies, and families to get active and help us produce the fruits and vegetables that are given directly to our patients.

Alliance's Community Garden, built with the help of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, benefits both Alliance patients and community partners who support the garden, including the Boys and Girls Club, local congregations, and area families. All fresh produce grown in our garden is handed directly to patients by their providers, along with a healthy recipe using those fruits and vegetables. Located on two acres adjacent to the AMM clinic at the intersection of New Bern Avenue and Donald Ross Drive, the garden is a productive use of the land and a highly visible reminder that healthy living begins with healthy eating.
