A MORNING OF VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering around food and other causes around the Triangle!

For 2017 Weekend of Purpose, we are partnering with many organizations in Wake County around food for Second Saturday.

 

SWEET POTATO HARVEST WORKDAY

Our October volunteer day is coming a week early. Help us harvest sweet potatoes this Saturday starting at 9:00am. Potluck lunch will start at 12 noon, please bring something to share if you can. Hope to see you there!

WEEKEND OF PURPOSE

The Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation Weekend of Purpose is a multi-part event that brings together over 500 attendees and ties together service, food, and fun to raise key funds that will support the core programs of the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation. Attendees are encouraged to participate in various ways throughout the weekend through two distinct events.

Morning

DAY OF SERVICE
Each year, the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation brings together more than 150 volunteers at various sites across the Triangle to serve our community.

Evening

JAMIE’S VIP HOUR
Sponsors and VIP-ticket holders are invited to join the Jamie KIrk Hahn Foundation and special guests for an exclusive VIP-hour including VIP-only dishes, drinks, and experiences.

JAMIE’S PARTY WITH A PURPOSE
In the evening, supporters are invited to purchase tickets and join the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation and some of the state’s top chefs for an unforgettable evening at a downtown Raleigh location. Attendees gain the opportunity to sample dishes from 5-7 chefs complimented with a curated selection of cocktails, beer, and wine from local bars, restaurants, and wine distributors.


BIKE RIDE TO FARMERS MARKET

Join Oaks and Spokes and East Coast Greenway Alliance for a 4 mile greenway bike ride to the NC Farmers Market. We'll be meeting at Chavis Community Center at 10:00am for this fun ride! This is a ride for all ages and abilities. We encourage participants to wear a helmet.

It's apple season! Interested in learning to preserve the fall bounty of apples all year long?

Join us Second Saturday, October 14 at Raleigh City Farm! We'll show you three delicious ways to preserve apples and teach you the history behind these methods and some of your favorite apple varieties!

Information will cover how to preserve apples using the water bath canning method to make fruit butter and applesauce as well as the historical method of "snitzing"! Techniques generalize easily to other fruits! You will leave with a solid overview of how to use the water-bath canning method, handouts, and a jar of apple preserves that you help make!

Come one, come all! Logan’s Annual Harvest Day Festival is almost here!!! Make fall memories while you enjoy our festival games, food, and crafts! Take a ride around Seaboard Station on our Hayride, feed the animals at our petting zoo, pick some pumpkins, or enter our scarecrow building competition! Does fall mean heart-warming food to you too?
