This month's theme is Tomatoes and Blackberries!

Our events celebrating local food and community are spread around the Raleigh Food Corridor and Downtown Raleigh throughout the day on July 9th!

Piedmont Picnic Project at Raleigh City Farm

An all day blackberry celebration. Featuring blackberry competition with Piedmont Picnic Project. Teams pick blackberries along Raleigh greenways and then bring their berry haul to be weighed in to see who has the most berry poundage! The winning team and runner up will receive some FANTASTIC PRIZES! You can choose to keep your berries OR better yet, donate them and package them to be sold to local chefs, with all proceeds going to the Raleigh Food Corridor!

When you to weigh-in your berries at Raleigh City Farm, there'll be a Jamboree! Complete with jam tastings, a bluegrass Youth Jam with Pine Cone Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, blackberry inking stamp art with Linda Dallas, drinks, food and more!

Join us in the Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden to explore the plants and wildlife who call the Garden their home, buzz along the Pollinator Promenade, and daydream in the Fairy Fort. Help our gardener tend the many vegetables, fruits and flowers that grow here—and taste them too. The Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden is open for play every day.

The Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden encourages kids to live healthy and active lives through exploratory outdoor play, and experiencing fresh and local fruits and vegetables through all their senses. Joining the gardener in tending the space, kids learn through hands-on participation in a community setting. Sun Sprouts is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, and neighbored by a new Pollinator Garden sponsored by Burt’s Bees in the Marbles courtyard, where children can witness the power of pollinators and learn how to support them.

Join community members constructing birdhouses for the community garden in the morning. Kids are invited for a hands-on workshop to learn the roles that birds play in community gardens. They'll get to paint their own birdhouse to take home. Talented Painters (Volunteer here) will paint the birdhouses constructed by the community members to go into our community garden.

Raleigh Raw Saturday Recovery Party
