Our events celebrating local food and community this summer are spread around the Raleigh Food Corridor and Downtown Raleigh throughout the day on August 13th!

Bee a Pollinator! Join Raleigh Food Corridor for a community conversation and afternoon with local beekeepers, pollinator experts, and pollinator garden enthusiasts. Alice Hinman with Apiopolis and Helen Yoast with Bee Better will be speaking on their current beekeeping and pollinator gardens. Bring the whole family out to observe bees in a hive, get your hands dirty on gardening topics and talk to local experts on how you can help build pollinator habitats.

Join us in the Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden to explore the plants and wildlife who call the Garden their home, buzz along the Pollinator Promenade, and daydream in the Fairy Fort. Help our gardener tend the many vegetables, fruits and flowers that grow here—and taste them too. The Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden is open for play every day.

The Sun Sprouts Kids’ Garden encourages kids to live healthy and active lives through exploratory outdoor play, and experiencing fresh and local fruits and vegetables through all their senses. Joining the gardener in tending the space, kids learn through hands-on participation in a community setting. Sun Sprouts is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, and neighbored by a new Pollinator Garden sponsored by Burt’s Bees in the Marbles courtyard, where children can witness the power of pollinators and learn how to support them.

Work alongside our guest chefs to make your own watermelon smoothies and farm fresh fried okra with a variety of dipping sauces! Our resident bee keeper, Alice, will also be on site to provide tours of our two bee hives. You'll get to meet our bees and watch them making honey! You might even get to taste some!

Ann Marshall will be cooking and demonstrating healthy ways to make pasta salad using fresh produce from the Passage Home Alpha Garden. Come out to learn how you can eat this backyard pasta staple with a healthy twist. Samples will be given out. Volunteers can help pack servings for neighbors to be given out as well.


RALEIGH RAW SATURDAY RECOVERY PARTY

Every Saturday Raleigh Raw hosts a Recovery party with a local DJ playing funk, jazz, & soul paired with bottomless Mimosas of Champagne and Tribucha Kombucha. This is a great event for everyone to come and relax, converse, and get healthy midweekend. Raleigh Raw empowers our community to eat to THRIVE. #FueltheHustle

A MORNING OF VOLUNTEER GARDENING

Each Second Saturday, we come together as volunteers to help grow gardens along the Raleigh Food Corridor. This month we will be installing flowers that attract pollinators at two downtown restaurants: Provenance and Centro. 

Next month, our garden volunteering will be back in full force with our partnership with Activate Goods Weekend of Service. More details coming soon!
